Simple Steps to Healing Codependency and Learn How to Heal Your Nervous System After Burnout With Dr. Nikki LeToya White

Are you a high-achieving woman, a devoted mama, or someone on a sobriety journey feeling lost in people-pleasing, emotional eating triggers, or one-sided relationships? You’re not alone—and you don’t have to keep living this way. You’re in the right place for tools for nervous system healing for anxiety.

Tired of Self-Abandoning? The Feel Face Release Heal Method is the Final Step to Sustainable Emotional Sobriety.

Dear High-Achieving Woman in Recovery,

This is your invite to become a Gutty Girl, if you choose.

You’ve done the hard work: you got sober or chose to start getting sober, you left the toxic environment, and you’ve built or are working on building a successful, intentional, slow-driven life, where regulation and peace are your only focus. But inside, you still feel trapped and wonder how to stop disappearing inside your own life. You’re trading one addiction for another—trading control for codependency, trading substances for sugar, trading feeling for food, still self-abandoning by carrying your relationships alone.

Or maybe, you keep hitting the same wall when it comes to making your self-care a top priority: burnout leads to binge-eating, which spirals back into shame and the constant fear of relapse. You know the root is your Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN), anxious- preoccupied attachment, and the deep, silent fear of abandonment.

Most of us have been around the self-help field long enough to know that you don’t need another generic self-care tip. You need a trauma-informed protocol. You need the courage to stop managing everyone else’s emotions and finally heal your own. You also need to understand that God has your back. He wants to use your story as a testimony for his love and grace. He wants you to have strong hope and faith in yourself and Him. History is filled with successful academic dropouts, from Bill Gates to Walt Disney to Abraham Lincoln. I began writing in 2008 to share my shame story and process my emotional distress through daily blogging; eventually those blog posts turned into books. I didn’t feel qualified then; even with a doctoral degree right now, I still don’t feel qualified, but I still write. I still follow God’s voice every day. Because in the end, what people say doesn’t matter; what counts is what God says.

He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you," which appears in the New Testament in Hebrews 13:5. And His will and plan for your life will be the ultimate right to determine if you are a successor a failure.

In Job 12:14, it highlights that only God holds ultimate power over building and breaking: “If He breaks a thing down, it cannot be rebuilt; if He imprisons a man, there can be no release.”

We all know God has a habit of picking people who have been passed over. So as long as you keep your faith and trust in Him, sooner or later you will reap what you sow. Never give up.

Let me share something with y’all...

About ten years ago, I stumbled onto something that completely changed the way I respond to my emotions.

At the time, I didn’t have fancy language for it. I wasn’t calling it somatic work. I just knew I couldn’t keep living from one emotional reaction to the next.

Every feeling felt urgent.

Every uncomfortable emotion felt like something I had to fix immediately.

If I felt anxious, I reacted.

If I felt overwhelmed, I reacted.

If I felt hurt, I reacted.

I never stopped long enough to ask myself what my body was actually trying to tell me.

Then I started learning about Somatic Experiencing, a body-based approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine. The idea is simple but powerful: trauma and stress don’t just live in our thoughts—they live in our bodies. When we learn to notice what our bodies are doing instead of immediately reacting, our nervous system has a chance to settle.

That changed everything for me.

Instead of asking,
“How do I make this feeling go away?”

I started asking,
“Where do I feel this in my body?”

That one question slowed everything down.

That’s actually where my Feel, Face, Release & Heal Method™ was born.

I didn’t create it sitting at a desk trying to invent a framework.

I created it because I was living it through my recovery maintenance, trying hard to stay focused on ending the cycle of self-abandonment.

I learned to...

Feel what was happening instead of pushing it away.

Face it without running from it.

Release what no longer belonged to me.

And finally...

Heal instead of repeating the same cycle.

The biggest lesson?

The pause.

That tiny space between what I feel...

and what I do next. That’s why you always hear me say,

“Not every action deserves a reaction.”

That pause has saved me from so many conversations I would’ve regretted, so many emotional eating episodes, so much overthinking, and so much unnecessary suffering and pain in my life. I also started balancing and restoring my Chakra Emotional System once I found where I was storing the unbalanced energy in my body. I was able to balance it with food, herbs, crystals, visualization, and color therapy. Mostly my solar plexus, heart, and root needed work, so that was my main focus. I did this through color therapy, the color of the outfit I chose to wear, visualization of seeing negative energy leave each center, then asking white light to come in and heal me, and food.

I still practice it today.

Not because I’ve mastered it.

Because it works-I feel better after each session.

I’ve learned that sometimes healing isn’t found in having the perfect response.

Sometimes it’s found in giving your body thirty seconds to catch up before your mouth or your habits take over and cause pain and more darkness in the world.
